When is the best time to send Christmas cards?

Follow these tips to ensure you bring smiles to all your friends and family.

Studies show that people LOVE getting Christmas cards in the mail. Cards, not those long, poorly written letters that tell about your family’s events through the year. No one wants that for Christmas. That’s what Facebook is for. So why don’t more people send them? Because the window to send Christmas cards is narrow. If you aren’t prepared you will usually skip it. Instead, use the following tips to ensure you bring smiles to all your friends and family.

  1. Order your cards long before Thanksgiving so you have them ready to fill out as soon as the time is right. We have some fun Christmas cards available in the store all year long. Members of our email list get a reminder email in November which is handy even if you don’t get your Christmas cards through Actionline.

  2. Not too early: You don’t want people to get them before they have feasted on turkey day. So definitely wait until after Thanksgiving to start sending but you can certainly start filling them out.

  3. Not too late: The post office gets very busy during the holidays so you don’t want to wait too close to Christmas. In December you want to allow for up to two weeks to be safe. If you want the cards to arrive by Dec 23rd then count back 2 weeks and you land on Dec 9th.

  4. Just right: So the perfect window to send your cards is between November 28th-December 9th.
